LAUREN: "Having worked professionally as a stylist for more than 18 years, I have received advanced training from some of the top names in the industry, including Sassoon, Bumble and Bumble, Wella, and Redken.

For me, styling goes back generations; my aunt is a hairstylist and my grandfather owned a salon back in the day. Personally, being in a salon has always felt so familiar. I was born and raised in New England and I studied my craft for years in New York City before finally settling in Austin. I took a road trip out here and just fell in love. I just love how proud and happy people look. Austin is a perfect city full of creativity, individuality, and innovation.

Within the 8 years that I have been in Austin, I made a name for myself by styling editorials for local magazines like Tribeza, Austin Monthly and Austin Lifestyle. Additional work that I have done in Austin includes: Bleach Magazine, Coco Magazine, and Austin fashion week.

I've been very fortunate to collaborate with the following artists working as a freelance stylist for: Free People Boutique, Charm School Vintage Boutique, Kelly Wynne Handbags, and Beehive Boutique. One of my proudest achievements in my career was when I was involved with the documentary for Dress for Success. I thoroughly enjoyed donating my time and services to the local community.

Now that you know a little about me, I would love to know more about you! Looking forward to meeting you.

VALERIE: I moved to Austin from New York City following the birth of my first child.  I have deep roots in Texas and love Austin for its beauty, culture, and life style so my husband and I chose Austin to raise our family.  I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in photography and then moved to NYC where I worked in the photography industry before turning my artistic creativity and eye for design to hair. I started my career at the Aveda Institute in NY where I discovered how much I love cutting and styling hair and the whole time I had my heart set on training at Sassoon.  After graduating a got my dream job at Sassoon in NY. It was a deeply inspiring place for me and I fell in love with precision cutting. I worked very closely with top creative directors honing my skills and styling hair for events including New York Fashion Week. I then joined the original team at Salon SCK in NY where I furthered my creative and technical expertise. After we moved to Austin we welcomed our second child. Our family is now happily established in the Austin community and I am excited to be working with the amazing artists at Rox Atelier.  I love creating designs tailored for each client with great attention to detail and precision.

“Hairdressers are a wonderful breed. You work one-on-one with another human being and the object is to make them feel so much better and to look at themselves with a twinkle in their eye.”
— Vidal Sassoon
